This magic I think I've got a hang of at least. It hides me completely as long as I don't move or as long as I can hold my breath.

That is certainly useful! Although the holding your breath limitation might become an issue... are you a swimmer?

Yeah. Actually water magic was the thing I got the hang of the fastest. I'm not sure if it's because it's my element or not but it was the first magic I ever did for sure.

Maybe! I'm no magic user - indeed, we don't appear to have magic the way other worlds do! But I was thinking that swimming you learn to hold your breath, eh? That might be helpful for this new magic of yours.

I'm hoping so. Guess I'll find out if I improved that or not right? [He smiles playfully.] I think Elrond is meeting me when I get there but I'll make sure to see you too.

[ Maglor smiles fondly back ]

[He shifts the sword he's holding then looks ahead of him before looking back.]

[ His eyes soften fondly ]

Tis no problem at all, Riley. I'll see you then.

[He gives him a smile before hanging up. But true to his word (then again a Fae can't lie) he comes to where Maglor is after seeing Elrond.]

Um hey. You're not busy right? I can always come back later if you're composing.

[ Maglor looks up from his harp and smiles ]

No, come in!

[Coming in with the sword, it's clear he's using a cord to keep it tied up so he can't accidently hurt himself by having it come out of the sheathe. Setting it nearby, he sits himself down.]

Sort of. [ He smiles, setting it aside ]

I'm just fiddling, at the moment. It might turn into something, or not. Is that the blade you've been given?

It is. [He grabs it again to offer it to him.]

It's tied shut so I don't hurt myself with it somehow.

That was well thought. [ He praises him ]

Is it a double or single-edged blade, did you see? [ He unpicks the knot to draw it carefully ]

Single. Pretty sure it's called a katana.

[Which is as far as his knowledge goes.]

A friend in high school really loved them and showed me pictures of the sword she wanted to get one day.

Not a type I am familiar with. [ He muses, drawing it carefully to examine ]

But similar enough to other single bladed weapons I know! The balance is exquisite - this has been very well made indeed!

Is it? I guess that's a good thing.

[He laughs a little as he watches him.]

It changes colors with my mood too. As well as the hiding thing.

It is. [ Maglor smiles at him ]

A well-balanced blade makes a swordsman's job a lot easier, and is a sign that the craftsman who made it knows his business. Although I suppose if it has such other properties, it might be kizuna that makes it so!

You said you had no knowledge of blades, yes? We'd have to start from the beginning, if you wanted to learn. Fortunately, the basics are the same for every sort of blade, in truth.

I don't mind starting at the beginning. I'll do anything you say so I can learn the right way.

[He nods firmly to show how much he really, really means it. Then again he can't lie to being with but that's not the point.]

[ Maglor reaches over to ruffle his hair fondly ]

And we will do our best to teach you. Why don't you pick a time, and we can run regular sessions for you.

[He laughs softly and reaches up to fix his curls.] Are you sure you want me doing that? I'd be asking for every day if you'd let me pick the time.

[He's always been the eager student. Even for things that he has no skill in.]

[ Maglor laughs softly ]

So eager! Well, we can do every other day, perhaps! I don't wish for you to over-exert yourself!

[He pouts a little bit, clearly the eager thing is very true.]

Well if you think that's for the best...

We can increase it, once you're a bit more used to it. [ Maglor promises ]

[He does have three sword teachers so far. And will get two more soon.]
