{Maedhros is already running, but he doesn't end the link. Only when he reaches the Manor, to the last door between he and his brother does he close the watch. He opens the door quietly and steps inside before closing and locking it after him.
No more hesitation. Maedhros crosses to Maglor and tugs him in for a tight hug.}
[ soft stifled noises escape down the link, and when Maedhros enters Maglor is curled in the corner on the floor, and the scars on his right hand are bright red and raw. He does not mo e, but he does not refuse his brother's embrace ]
{Maedhros gently picks his brother up, just long enough to take a seat in the corner, then sets him back down in his lap. Just as he had when Maglor was little Cano. He presses his face into his brother's hair, holding him close.}
[ Maglor shakes his head in answer and turns to press his face against his brother's shoulder, tears soaking into the cloth, but his mouth stays stubbornly shut. Despite the sobs that wrack his frame, he makes no more than the very barest noise - who knows how often he has cried thus? ]
{Maedhros doesn't ask. Instead he leans his cheek against his brother's head and softly sings the first song he'd ever sung for Maglor. His hold on his little brother doesn't slacken, he just sings. One song to the next, he'll sing as long as he needs to if it brings even a small measure of comfort.}
[ It takes a long time for the storm to settle, but settle it does, with Maedhros' voice in his ears, leaving Maglor spent. His voice is dead and hollow ]
At the very last the forces of the Valar prevailed, and Morgoth was overthrown, and the Silmarils cut from his crown. And you and I made shift for one final attempt - to take them from the Valar. They burnt us, Nelyo. We could not hold them.
{Days could have passed them by and Maedhros wouldn't have stopped. He's quiet when Maglor finally speaks, he listens. His eyes close at the news and he presses his face into his brother's hair again.}
And I left you. {The pain is there, but muted with the horror that not only had they been so naive as to believe their sins would be washed away at their success, but that he'd left his little brother alone.}
There are people here who know what to do if one of those damned jewels come.
You could not help it. [ Maglor assures him ] I understand why, now. [ And under his hands, Maedhros will be able to feel how thin his brother is, will realise that despite the smiles and the seemingly normal behaviour, he has not seen Maglor eat since Earendil made his presence known ]
It isn't fine, Cano. {How his brother can let him so near after what he's done- what he does, he doesn't know. But he's selfishly glad. Maedhros hugs his brother close again, squeezing just a little more.}
{Maedhros makes himself as comfortable as he can, shifting just a little. Then starts humming softly, content to guard his brother's sleep. This way Maglor would know instantly if he even tries to leave.}
